LTTE
violated CFA, rules SLMM
The Scandinavian monitors yesterday ruled that the LTTE had violated
the Ceasefire Agreement by firing at the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF)
helicopter heading to pick up Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Margiterita
Boneveb and 20 others from Arugam Bay in Ampara on Wednesday.
SLMM
Head Hagrup Haukland said after meeting with the parties and having
inspected the damaged helicopter, the SLMM concludes that as the
small arms fire against the helicopter originated from an area controlled
by the LTTE, it must bear the responsibility for the incident. “The
LTTE is urged do all in its power to avoid similar incidents in
the future, as such activity can lead to serious consequences jeopardising
the Ceasefire”, Mr. Haukland said.
