Film Fest to felicitate Malani

Malani Fonseka undoubtedly the number one actress in the Sri Lankan cinema, is being felicitated with a film festival of her top films on Rupavahini. Every Sunday, starting December 18, at 12 .00 noon is dedicated for both popular and award winning films, where this internationally acclaimed actress played the lead. The collection includes some recent directions as well as the yesteryear box-office hits.

Veteran director Dr. Lester James Peries' latest film ‘Wekanda Walauwa’ (Mansion by the Lake), the most recent film featuring this gifted actress Malani Fonseka will be telecast on December 18 (today).

The first television screening of this acclaimed direction, Malani plays the role of a widowed mother who struggles to protect a decaying Walawwa along with its power and prestige. Besides Malani, Sanath Gunathilake, Ravindra Randeniya, Wasanthi Chathurani and Paboda Sandeepani is in the cast.

'Thushara'- the box-office hit will be telecast on December 25. Directed by Yasapalitha Nanayakkara, the much-loved actor Vijaya Kumaratunge plays opposite Malani in the film in which all the playback songs are popular even today.

Film maker Dharmasiri Gamage's award winning film ‘Yasa Isuru’ will be telecast on January 1 and this is also the first time that it is being shown on the small screen. Vijaya Kumaratunge, Amerasiri Kalansuriya, Gothami Pathiraja play in the lead in which experienced music director Premasiri Khemadasa directed the music. ‘Yasa Isuru’ won a number of awards at Sarasaviya and Presidential awards ceremonies.
