Battle
over TV in Parliament control room
CEB staff attached to Parliament are furious that the television
set kept for their use in their room had been removed by the Co-ordinating
Engineer of Parliament last week after he found Parliament staff
members also watching the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh test match.
After
the engineer found Parliament staff members watching the match,
he had sent a letter to the Electrical Superintendent questioning
why he was allowing everyone to watch TV in the room allocated to
the CEB.
In
turn, the CEB official had pasted the letter on the door of the
room to keep others informed that they were not welcome to watch
TV there anymore.
The engineer who was angered at seeing his letter so displayed had
removed the TV set from the room.
The
CEB staff who are on duty round the clock, on shift basis, and are
allocated a separate control room along with a TV set because of
the nature of their work, say they will lodge a protest with the
concerned authorities shortly.
