UNP campaigner in Matara arrested
Former UNP Deputy Minister and Matara district campaigner H. R. Piyasiri was arrested on Friday and remanded until tomorrow in connection with a shooting incident that took place a few years ago.

He was arrested by CID detectives after they searched his house. They recovered two rubber seals of a police officer and education officer from his house.

Mr. Piyasiri in the recent weeks had been actively involved in the local government election campaign in the Matara District.
