Vidyarathna Horana in the lead on day two

Vidyarathna Pirivena Horana was in the lead on the second day of
the inaugural Dian Gomes trophy boxing tournament being held at
the Royal boxing ring in Reid Avenue. From the semi finals that
were worked out yesterday six of their boxers have qualified to
the finals and they have put themselves in line of clinching the
title.
With
some semi final bouts remaining to be completed, the other schools
to have their boxers qualifying to the finals were Seevali MMV Ratnapura
and Royal Colombo with three boxers along with Kadugannawa Central
and Vidyartha Kandy.
The
tournaments held for the first time by the ABA in appreciation of
the service rendered by the present president of the ABA Dian Gomes
saw over 110 boxers from 18 schools participating. The finals are
scheduled to be worked off today from 5.30 p.m. onwards with the
chief guest being Wazir Sourjah a former Sri Lanka boxer and the
Administration Manager of Slimline (Pvt) Ltd.
