"Mirror Mirror on the Wall… Who is the fairest of us all?" We've heard the delightful tale that features those lines time and again. 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,' was brought to life at the Bishops College Auditorium on May 22 and 23 at 6.30 pm.

Presented by the British School Junior section, the fairytale endearingly told kept the audience enthralled, both young and old alike. Over 70 students participated in the concert, their enjoyment in the roles they were performing evident.

Megan DeSisti, the guardian fairy took on the role of the narrator, taking the audience through various scenes, while simultaneously displaying her talent in both singing and ballet. While Daniel Prins and Allegra Bozetarnik played the roles of the King and Queen, Marya Norat was the evil queen, determined to be the fairest in the land, even if it meant having to kill the beautiful Snow White played by Fiona Brown.

The comical dwarfs played their parts to perfection. Lara Muttiah (Doc), Hasini Assiriyage (Sleepy), Steffan Paul (Dopey), Chethindra Siriwardena (Bashful), Pranavan Rockwood (Happy), Zahara Dawoodbhoy (Grumpy) and Shilpita Matthews (Sneezy) through their dialogue and gestures that suited their names drew much laughter. Arriving for the curtain call, dancing to the tune of La Bamba while sporting holiday wear, added an amazing touch, bringing to an end the captivating fairy tale.

Edward Pullen made a remarkable Prince Namby Pamby. His dance with Snow White during the finale as also the other dances was superbly choreographed. Other characters that need mention are the Cheeky Elf played by Amira Latiff, Mirror by Alok Herath and the woodcutter played by Daham Wickramanayake.

Truly enchanting were the forest scenes. The trees and forest creatures together with the elves, fairies, gnomes, goblins and pixies looked charming in their costumes, their lively dance routines adding life to the concert.
The sets comprised of large flowers, logs and toadstools, enhancing the fairytale atmosphere. As for the music it was certainly lively with catchy tunes that most were familiar with.
