ODEL
PVT Ltd, the leading retail store, has successfully prosecuted
a Jordanian company for illegally using the Sri Lankan firm’s
brand name.
ODEL said in a statement that the defendant Suhail
Abdul Fattah Nasir Al- Deen of Amman Mall Building was found guilty
of violating a trademark contrary to provisions of Article (38)
of the Trademarks Law.
The trial was taken up for hearing at the presence
of the Plaintiff’s attorney Nabeel Yaseen and in the absence
of the defendant. The court heard testimony from the plaintiff witnesses
Tariq Abdul Raheem Shana’a and Ula Husam Al- Tellawi. It was
also revealed in court that the defendant was carrying on a successful
retail business using the ODEL brand name.
Judge Saleh Al-Shwabkeh found the defendant guilty
and in violation of provisions of the Trademarks Law and he was
ordered to pay a fine of 200 Dinars in addition to the other fees.
