LTTE hints
of Oslo ultimatum
The tiger guerrilla delegation’s visit for
Oslo talks next week is to tell the international community for
the last time that the Government has not fulfilled its assurances,
according to S. Pulithevan, Head of the LTTE Peace Secretariat.
“In spite of having had six rounds of talks
with the Sri Lanka governments and one in Geneva none of the assurances
accepted by the government has been fulfilled, and it does not have
the mental setup to do so. We are going to Oslo to tell the international
community for the last time,” Mr. Pulithevan told an LTTE
Tamil web site.
The LTTE going to Oslo would be an effort to tell
the international community that no solution is possible until such
time the international community enforces severe pressure on the
Sri Lanka Government to arrive at a settlement, he said.
Mr. Pulithevan also said setting up of committees
and having conferences had been going on in Southern Sri Lanka throughout
the years. But none of them produced any results. Similarly the
non-inclusion of the representatives of the Tamils in the two committees
that were being appointed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa was not
going to produce any benefits. At the same time, it is clear that
southern Sri Lanka and Tamil Eelam have been polarized, he said.
