Spare Sarala
says Serasinghe
Talking about Sarala veteran actress Iranganie
Serasinghe said she was impressed at the potential and latent
talent hidden in the child prodigy.
Iranganie Serasinghe who plays a key role of a
mother-in-law to Chauya in 'Water' spoke of the wonderful talent
that Sarala possessed. It has already won rave reviews. She said
that it is important to shield her skill as 'natural actress' without
spoiling it.
"She is such a brilliant and natural actress
and I pray that her talent will not be damaged and destroyed,"
said the experienced actress whose natural talent was recognised
by several international directors.
Speaking of the dedication and love that Sarala
had for acting Iranganie said that there was a scene where they
had to take many retakes. As this was going on Sarala stood up to
the test where many an experienced actress would have shown signs
of fatigue or impatience.

"One has to realise that acting has to be
inborn. And there are only a few who are born with such a talent
and Sarala is definitely one," said Iranganie.
Speaking of the undue influence that directors
use to force down their concepts of how a child should act she said
the tragedy is that most of the people don't know how to teach children
to act. "What they do is they get these little ones to act
the way they want and this is the end of the unspoiled latent talent."
It is the beginning of blind imitation as the child thinks it is
the way to act.
Most of the time the latent talent in child actors
is used for economic purposes. "And I hope that Sarala will
not be a victim of this type of exploitation."
