'Ukusso' (Hawks), a miniplay filled with love, suspense and mystery directed by Eranga Senaratne is telecast every Tuesday at 8.20 pm on ITN channel.

The teledrama revolves around the life of young girl working for an underworld gang, police officer, lawyer and a reporter.

The cast comprises Semeni Iddamalgoda, Ramani Siriwardane, Priya Ranasinghe, Chandra Kaluarachchi, Prasanajith Abesuriya, Prasanna Fonseka, Sarath Namalgania, Vinne Veththasinghe and Anuradha Udayangani.

Beautiful Devika, a gang leader is involved in smuggling in the Medagama area and she works for Kalumahattaya in his underworld activities. Migara Senarathna is a law abiding, young newly appointed officer in charge of the Medagama Police Station.

One day Devika is apprehended for one of her crimes and appears in Court. However she is bailed and the court orders her to report to the Police Station once a week. Devika who meets OIC Migara gets friendly with him and she goes to the extent of revealing her past to him. Migara sympathizes with her, advises her to refrain from illegal activities. Devika who obeys him begins to love him.

Migara is quite interested in the pretty young lawyer Vindya, who appears for Devika. But Vindya who gives priority to duty, ignores him. However eventually she too gets attracted to the young police officer and they become lovers.

Uthpala a news reporter for the Medagama area, keeps a close friendship with Migara and writes to her newspaper about the crimes taking place in the area. One Narada who works in the same Newspaper with Uthpala tries to build up a relationship with her, but she turns it down politely. In the meantime Kalumahattaya starts suspecting Devika, and Migara introduces her to Uthpala, in order to get Devika's life in to the papers. This is with the idea of giving protection to the young girl whose life is under threat now.

Would this be a proper idea? Will Uthapala be able to get her story? What will be the future of Devika? What is the future of Migara and Vindaya? All this will unravel as you continue to watch Ukusso.
