Asha Central to put
up another hospital
Asha Central (Pvt) Limited, in a bid to ease a
shortage of 8,000 hospital beds in the city, is planning to put
up another hospital in Colombo, according to Dr. Nevil Fernando,
owner of the hospital.
Dr. Fernando told The Sunday Times FT that the
hospital is expected to take off as soon as a suitable land is available.
“We have reached the maximum capacity at Asha Central. We
are compelled to turn away patients because we don’t have
space,” he said.
About Rs 5 billion is expected to be invested
on the new state-of-the art hospital which will be equipped with
all the facilities. The hospital will have 200 beds.
Dr. Fernando said that Asha Central (Pvt) Limited
was able to post a turnover of Rs. 495 million and a profit of Rs.
105 million for financial year ended 31st March 2006.
