KINJOU celebrates
15 Anniversary
"Kinjou" Chinese Restaurant at Havelock
Town Colombo 5 will be celebrating its 15th year in operation.
The promoter of Kinjou Nagoya, a Japanese National,
who studied culinary art in China was successfully able to create
a totally new 'taste' by using Chinese recipe together with Japanese
sauces and other flavours, by 1991.
By then they were operating "Sakura"
Japanese Restaurant at Rheinland Place, Colombo 3 for eight years.
And the idea was mooted to introduce these new "Chinese cuisines
for the Japanese palate" by establishing "Kinjou"
Havelock Town.
Its introductory menu had 64 items. As a result
of introducing new cuisines over time, today Kinjou menu contains
180 items, which is the menu with the highest number of items of
variety available in any restaurant in Colombo.
Kinjou is a tourist board approved "A"
grade, air conditioned, carpeted restaurant with two private dining
rooms with 12+16 seating capacity, Japanese style 'tatami' rooms,
long tables that can accommodate 30 - 40 guests suitable for travel
groups etc. It has a well stocked bar and a large garden which can
accommodate over 100 guests, ideal for private functions such as
birthday parties, office get-togethers etc.
‘One important distinguishing feature of
"Kinjou" is that its chefs have been with the company
in last 15 years so that the taste of its dishes do not vary from
time to time. Chefs are regularly trained in Japan. Most of the
restaurant staff also have been working from the inception and therefore
guests find the restaurant pretty homely’ said Gamini Priyashantha,
the Group Manager .
‘The other features which make the restaurant
so popular amongst guests are; it allows you to bring your foreign
liquor only and if the food bill per person exceeds Rs.600/- corkage
is not charged’ he addded.
‘Efficient take-away counter in the garden
for busy guests who can place the order over the phone and collect
it, Delivery of your order to your door-step, within reasonable
distance, using its three dedicated delivery vehicles’ he
said.
Popular 'out-door' catering service which undertakes only two assignments
a day in order to maintain service standards.
