A rock cave
temple, a ferry ride and the Mighty Mini Club
By David Todd
Twenty six Minis left Colombo at 8.45a.m.on a
Saturday morning from Havelock Town for Kukuleganga and after a
90 kilo-metre journey we arrived at our destination-the Kukuleganga
Holiday resort on time for lunch.
After
a sumptuous meal the Mighty Mini Club members were once again set
off on to the road. This time the visit was to the Kukuleganga dam
site and the drive was enjoyed by the mini as well as all villagers
who thronged around the vehicles just to see a heck of a lot of
cars of the same make running in tandem.
After
we completed the main item in our agenda we were back at our hotel
just to give a break to our aching feet. However the day ended with
a BBQ & camp fire on the side of the swimming pool which also
included a hearty sing-song and a date with Bacchus.
On Sunday morning we hit the road again and this
time it was to visit the Pahiyangala Rock Cave Temple that took
the entire contingent by awe. The ride to the temple also included
a memorable and thrilling ride on a ferry which took the minis across
the Kukuleganga.
After almost two days of new experiences and fellowship
we returned to Colombo after lunch which was sponsored by the Mighty
Mini Club. |
