Remanded
for dipping hand in school development kitty

A former principal of a popular school in Kandy,
now an officer in the Education Department, was remanded till July
18 following an alleged fraud of rupees nine lakhs from the School’s
Development Society, while he was the Principal and president of
the Society.
The suspect was produced before Kandy Chief Magistrate
Harsha Setunge by the Kandy Special Crimes Investigation Branch.
An investigation was firstly initiated by the
Education Department following a complaint by School Development
Society.
The suspect ex-principal Bandara Kulatunga was
the principal of Braveharts College in Ampitiya where it was alleged
by parents, students and others that the suspect had engaged in
fraudulent activities.
SCIB OIC Inspector Sena de Alwis conducted investigations
and produced the suspect in courts.
