Tsunami housing project by Reconstruire et Vivre
Reconstruire et Vivre, which in English means ‘Rebuild
and Live’, a non-profit making association, said last week
it was committed to rehabilitate thousands of Sri Lankan tsunami
survivors.

The Rs. 30 million project was supervised by Patricia
Villette, wife of Chandra Wickramasinghe, Chairman of the Connaissance
Holdings Ltd, with the main donors of the project being leading
travel agencies, private organizations and the French government.
The inauguration ceremony of handing over 51 houses
constructed on land obtained through TAFREN located in Boossa was
held recently in the presence of French ambassador in Sri Lanka
J.B. de Vaivre.
lready 28 houses and a pre-school
were completed while repairs to eight houses were done at French
Garden Village in Kathaluwa in Habaraduwa. Two new boutiques were
also constructed under the second phase of this project.
