AGM
The International Advertising Association –
Sri Lanka Chapter (IAA–SLC) held its AGM recently where incumbent
President Ranil de Silva was installed for a second term.

There was also a presentation by Yasmin Ahamad,
Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett, Malaysia and a globally
acclaimed industry personality. The new elected committee includes
other advertising, media and marketing professionals such as Vice
Presidents Sujan Wijewardene – Executive Director of Wijeya
Newspapers, and Steuart Chapman – Managing Director of LOLC.
The newly elected Secretary is Chevaan Daniels
– Channel Head of MTV, and the Treasurer Renuka Marshall –
Joint Managing Director of Thompson Associates. The board of directors
for the 2006/2007 term consists of Sri Kanth Selladurai –
Vice President – Frozen Foods of Ceylon Cold Stores, Roshni
de Fonseka – Marketing Manager of Upali Newspapers, Thayalan
Bartlett – Chief Executive Officer of JWT, Imal Fonseka –
General Manager, Sales and Marketing for Caltex Lubricants, and
Gerald de Saram – Managing Director of CIC Paints.
CMA’s recent seminar on Strategic Cost Management
The Society of Certified Management
Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka recently conducted a one-day seminar
on “Strategic Cost Management” which was handled by
a specialist in Management Consultancy and wide experiences in the
conduct of professional management development programmes in India
and overseas.
The resource person, P. Thiruvengadam FICWA, B.Tech
(IIT Madras) is a Director at Management Consultancy Services, Deloitte
Haskins & Sells, Bangalore, India.
The seminar was meant to develop
and upgrade the professional skills of managers in order to improve
the performance of companies by mapping strategies into measurable
performance, improving performance, obtaining competitive advantage
and improving organizational effectiveness.
