Amal Cabraal |
Amal Cabraal, Director of Brands at Unilever, takes
over as chairman of the powerful consumer-goods multinational from
September, being only the second Sri Lankan to be appointed to this
post. Ironically the first Sri Lankan chairman, Stanley Jayawardene
who served from 1985 to 1987, is Cabraal’s father-in-law,
another unique feature of the company, officials said.
Current chairman Ehsan Malik who turned around
the firm when it was plagued with labour strikes and disputes some
years ago has been appointed Chairman, Unilever, Pakistan. Cabraal
has been at Unilever for more than 20 years.
