Commonwealth Finance Ministers' summit in Colombo

Sri Lanka will host the Commonwealth Finance Ministers' Meeting and the Senior Finance Officials Meeting for 2006 from September 12 to 14 in Colombo.

It will be inaugurated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Information Department said. Representatives from 53 Commonwealth member countries are expected to participate at this important event.

Prime Ministers, cabinet ministers, senior officials, other stake holders, representation from private sector and civil society are expected to participate at this Forum.

The special theme for this year's Ministerial Meeting is "Agenda for Growth and Livelihoods", which is a subject important for all Commonwealth countries who deal with the multi-faceted challenge of poverty reduction and wealth creation in order to ensure sustainable and equitable development.

The Senior Financial Officials Meeting will focus on the reform of international aid architecture with user prospective.
