CID probes scandal at Muslim institution The head of a leading Muslim institution has come under CID probe after he allegedly misappropriated a land belonging to the organisation. It is alleged that the president of this institution has appropriated a 20-perch land allocated for an international school project at Wellawatte in a questionable manner and later sold it to the same organisation for Rs. 6 million. The allegations first surfaced in an internal probe presided over by a retired judge who called into question the incomplete and unregistered deed. A complaint to the CID was made by a former member of the institution after the recommendations of the internal probe were not honoured by the president.
