August festival for Geetha
A film festival to felicitate popular actress Geetha
Kumarasinghe will be telecast throughout the month of August on
Rupavahini.

Starting with Hemasiri Sellapperuma's ‘Salambak
Handai', every Sunday 12 noon belt will be dedicated for the festival
where some of the most popular and award winning films strarring
Geetha will be screened.
Performing double acting in 'Salambak Handai'
Geetha plays opposite Sashi Wijendra and others in the cast include
Thalatha Gunasekara, Rex Kodippili, Sumana Gomes, Wilson Karunaratne
and Thilak Kumara Ratnayake.

Sumithra Peries' award winning direction 'Loku
Duwa' will be telecast on August 13. Gamini Fonseka, Joe Abeywickrema,
Irangani Serasinghe, Kamal Addararachchi, Jackson Anthony and Veena
Jayakody starred in the film directed by Tissa Abeysekera.
The film based on Edward Mallawarachchi’s
novel was produced by Geetha herself for G. S. K. Films. Premasiri
Khemadasa handled the musical score.
'Loku Duwa' won seven OCIC awards, twelve Sarasavi
awards and ten Swarna Sanka awards. The film participated in 12
international film festivals including Cannes Festival in France.
'Anuragaye Wasanththaya' , another production
of Geetha to the direction of Mohan Niyaz will be telecast on August
20. The stellar cast include Lucky Dias, Tony Ranasinghe, Angela
Seneviratne, Cyril Wickremage, Palitha Perera, Mahendra Perera and
Rex Kodippili. Music directed by Mohan Raj, Somapala Ratnayake made
the music for play back songs. Pandit W. D. Amaradewa, Latha Walpola,
Maya Damayanthi and Nuwan Gunawardena rendered their voices for
the play back.
H. D. Premaratne's acclaimed directorial venture
'Palama Yata' will be telecast on August 27. Produced by Geetha
the film was a box office hit in that year. Based on Kulasena Fonseka's
novel, it won OCIC, Sarasavi, Presidential and Swarna Sanka awards.
Geetha Kumarasinghe, Sanath Gunathilake, Joe Abeywickrema, Cyril
Wickremage, Sunethra Sarachchandra, Rasi Anwar, H. A. Perera and
Neil Alles were in the leading cast.
