
Malaysian Education Fair in Kandy
The Malaysian Education Fair organised by the
Malaysian Centre of the International Scholar Education Services
(ISEC) Pvt. Ltd. will be held in Kandy on August 14 at the Queen’s
Hotel from 1.00 pm to 8.00 pm, with the participation of five
prestigious educational institutions from Malaysia.
Malaysia has now become the most sought after
education destination for students seeking higher education overseas.
The host institute arranges for the student visas
while fees could be paid on a bi-annual basis. Living costs vary
from Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000.
The flying time to Malaysia is four hours and
obtaining visas are quite easy, the ISES said.
Malaysia though a cosmopolitan country, still
has similarities with Lankan culture, with the sale of alcohol and
tobacco being taboo within the campus premises.
The University of Nottingham has a branch campus
in Malaysia close to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Engineering
subjects are conducted with Business, Management, Computing and
Pharmacy disciplines.
The Swinburne University of Australia too has
a branch in Malaysia which is famous for Business and Technical
education. It is located at Kuching in Sarawak. KBU International
College, established in 1990, offers programmes at Certificate Diploma
and Degree level while American degree programmes too are offered
where fees are very affordable.
The
Kuala Lampur Infrastructure University College (KLICU) offers
degrees at Bachelor Level. Diplomas conducted would permit transfer
to foreign partner universities with exemption for studies at KLICU.
This College offers specialist subjects such as
Automotive Engineering and Geomantic Engineering.
