Road repairs may not last, say residents

At long last, the residents of Deveni Rajasinghe Mawatha in Kandy who had undergone severe hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road have got relief with Kandy Mayor L.B. Aluvihare approving Rs. 350,000 for road repairs.

However, residents in the area said the problem might not be solved permanently as leaking water pipes were creating pot holes along the road.

They hope that this problem too would be looked into during the repairs.

Sangharaja Perahera too held for 60th year

The Sangharaja Perahera, organised by the Welivita Asarana Saranakara Sangharaja Committee, was held for the 60th consecutive year in Kandy.

The Committee is headed by the Mahaupadaya Ven. Aluthgama Dhammananda Thera.

The procession, with elephants carrying a statute of the Sangharaja, was taken around the Kandy city limits.
