SLASI TechForum on Aug 23
The TechForum of the Sri Lanka Association for
the Software industry is to be held for the second consecutive year
in Colombo on 23 August with the theme for the all-day forum being
‘Back to the Future: Business Intelligence /Business Performance
Management Demystified’.
According to SLASI president Udaya De Silva, participants
at the forum will ‘learn about the latest trends in Business
Intelligence /Business Performance Management and how these innovations
can streamline their businesses and sharpen their competitive edge.’
More than 125 participants, mainly corporate IT and Planning professionals
from both the private and public sectors, are expected to attend.
SLASI vice-president Nayane Gunawardena, explains
that most business could benefit significantly by adopting business
performance management (BPM) and business intelligence (BI) products.
‘BPM is the big-picture stuff,’ he says. ‘It helps
managers define strategic goals, devise plans to reach those goals
and measure the success of the attainment in terms of well-defined
indicators. You could call it the set of integrated, feedback-driven
processes, supported by appropriate software, that helps navigate
and steer today’s businesses.’ BPM, he explains, comes
in a wide range of different forms, of which the most widely adopted
will be covered at the TechForum.
The TechForum, as it is popularly known, is now
in its second year. The success of the inaugural forum, held last
year, prompted SLASI to make this a regular, annual event. Last
year’s forum, which supported the theme of “Software
Development Demystified” had nearly a hundred attendees representing
over 50 companies.
