Business stops for Upul’s funeral
Kandy – Every business establishment at Digana
from the small 'they kadai' by the roadside to textile shops, grocery
shops, garages and the entire market closed on Thursday for the
funeral of DIG Upul Seneviratne from the STF who along with his
driver were assassinated by the LTTE.
Several shopkeepers remarked that although it
meant a considerable loss in revenue, their conscience compelled
them to close business as a mark of respect. Digana is a well developed
town, full of activity normally, residents said. (PM)
