World Spice Festival once again
The festival is from September 14 to 21 with
the launch at the Atrium Lobby of the Cinnamon Grand on September
13.
The World Spice Festival, following the success
of the inaugural and successful World Spice Festival organized by
the Sri Lanka Tourist Board last year, is preparing to unleash its
sizzle and spice once again this year. This year too, the event
is being driven by the Corporate Services Division of the Sri Lanka
Tourist Board together with the five star hotels and top restaurants
in the city.
The festival is from September 14 to 21 with the
launch at the Atrium Lobby of the Cinnamon Grand on September 13.
The Tourist Board said each hotel and restaurant will conduct a
food festival for one week in one of their restaurants with a guest
master chef taking visitors through a particular cuisine.
A spectacular highlight of the main event of the
festival is the ‘Global Spice Village’ to be held on
September 15 and 16 at “Sathutu Uyana” with easy access
and parking for all! The specialty master chefs flown down from
various parts of the world will work their magic at this event,
thus making the event a truly global one.
HSBC, one of the largest banking institutions
in the world, has generously offered to play the role of main sponsor
for the ‘World Spice Festival’ in a bid to bring Sri
Lankans a world class taste of global cuisine – reaffirming
its belief to bring nothing but the best for its clients in Sri
Lanka.
The media sponsors are the Wijeya Group, Art TV,
Upali Newspapers, Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd, Express Newspapers,
The Nation, Business Standard, and B.T. Options.
The hotels, cafes, and restaurants that will don
the chef’s hat at the ‘Global Spice Village’ are:
Hilton Colombo – Chinese; Taj Samudra – South African;
Trans Asia – Vietnamese; Cinnamon Grand – Moroccan;
Holiday Inn – Moghul; Ceylon Continental – Indonesian;
Mount Lavinia Hotel – Thai; Water’s Edge – Singaporean;

Lankan.
