‘Back to Business’ enterprises sales
tops Rs.1.3 million
The ‘Back to Business’ project of the
Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCISL), the most
comprehensive private sector initiative for the rehabilitation of
tsunami-affected enterprises and livelihoods, fully sponsored 15
rehabilitated enterprises to provide market linkage opportunities
for their products at the Summer Fair exhibition recently held at
Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo.

FCCISL said in a statement that it was a very successful
event for all enterprises, who participated as they collectively
generated sales exceeding Rs.1.36 million while securing many important
linkages and steady orders.
Market/Corporate Linkage component of the project
is fully financed by the Embassy of Netherlands. The project will
continue to provide effective market linkage to these rehabilitated
enterprises affected by Tsunami to support their sustainability.
Nominated by respective district Chambers of Commerce
who are the partners of the project,15 Back to Business Enterprises
participated at the exhibition comprising one enterprise each from
Trincomalee and Ampara districts, four from Matara, five from Galle,
two from Hambantota and two from Kalutara district. The participants
were: Karpagam Palmyrah Products (Trincomalee- Palmyrah products
), Maruthamunai Fabrics ( Ampara – Handloom sarees, sarongs,
table linen), Anil Batiks ( Matara - Batik clothes, Batik all hangers
& pictures), D & D Fashions ( Matara – ready-made
garments - ladies ware, Kids wear, gents-wear), Priyani Lace (Matara
– Lace products including table linen & bed linen), Gem
Look Garment ( Matara – Gents shirts), Ruweena Foods –
(Galle- Jam, cordial, sauce, chutney, sambol), Harshi Lace (Galle
– Lace mixed cloth for ladies and gents, table linen and bed
linen ), Super Mosquito Nets (Galle – Mosquito nets), Ajith
Cane Furniture (Galle – Cane furniture), Sena’s Marketing
(Galle – Ladies, Gents & Kiddies shoes, slippers, Sithumini
Kirihala (Hambantota – Curd & treacle),Dilani Kalu Dodol
(Hambantota – Kalu dodol & other sweets), Ravi Arts (Kalutara
– fabric wall hangers), and Chathuranga Handicrafts (Kalutara
– wooden toys, masks etc. ).
