Appeal for a kidney

Mahesh Kumara of Weniwalkola, Kahathuduwa is suffering from advanced kidney failure. He needs haemodialysis at least twice a week.

Dr. A. L. M. Nazar, Consultant Nephrologist of the National Hospital has recommended special medication and transplantation which will cost around Rs. 300,000. The boy’s mother is appealing to the public to donate an O Positive kidney, and to help meet the cost of the transplantation. Please contact 0779302736. Seminar on human rights

A seminar on the United Nations Human Rights Council at the Palace of the Nations Geneva was held recently in co-operation with the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The purpose of the seminar was to provide information on the new Human Rights Council.

Subjects included the importance of the HRC, procedural matters, urgent measures, special procedures, universal periodic review and treaty body reforms.
