Sri Lanka’s premier banking convention
The Banking Convention 2006 will be one of the
country’s most prestigious gathering of senior executives
and top professionals in the financial services industry in the
country and has since 1998 built on the achievements accumulated
over the past eight years, officials said
The Banking Professionals Association (BPA) will
be holding its annual convention on August 25. It is the biggest
event in the bankers’ calendar which brings together all the
industry professionals in the industry. The annual event has been
delivering the most important learning experience for the banking
professionals and it is conceived and executed as a forum for thought,
leadership and sharing of best practices-especially in these uncertain
and changing times-featuring some of the most remarkable industry
specialist of our times.
“It is the premier event of the association,
the professionals get together to discuss the main technical issues
relevant to the local industry as well as out side of the country,”
said President of the Banking Professionals Association Rajendra
Theagarajah.
The association takes much care to bring in a
balanced group of both local and international professionals as
speakers to this event annually. The 18th Anniversary Convention
will focus on a “Paradigm Shift” in Lankan banking and
will examine some of the agents of change key to the industry.
However this year there is a slight variation
to the usual agenda as the association has planned to hold a CEO
forum as well. The forum will highlight what are expected from banking
professionals both in terms of human talent and services. The forum
will feature CEOs from three leading institutions active in both
in the international and local business arena. “We wanted
to get an outsiders point of view of what is expected and what the
shortcomings are,” said Theagarajah about the forum.
