Celebrating
Ikebana
The Shi-en Ikebana and Floral Art Society will
hold its annual floral exhibition on September 3 and 4 at the Atrium
Lobby of the Cinnamon Grand.
The society was formed in 1991 to promote the
art of flower arranging both Ikebana and western as a hobby in Sri
Lanka and has held many successful exhibitions in the past.
Most of the proceeds from the exhibitions have
been donated to worthy causes. Last year the society helped the
newly-opened Adult Thalassaemia Unit at the Ragama Hospital.
In earlier years they donated equipment to the
Thalassaemia wards at the Kurunegala Hospital and Chilaw Hospital.
A children’s ward at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital
and the Castle Street Hospital for women were also recipients of
equipment requested by them.
Proceeds from this year’s exhibition will
make up a donation to the Thalassaemia ward of the General Hospital,
Polonnaruwa.
The exhibition this year is titled ‘Celebrations,’
on the theme of celebrating life.
