Kelaniya swimmers best in Gampaha

Kelaniya Swimming and Life Saving Association
emerged overall champions of the Gampaha District Swimming meet
held at the Regent International College swimming pool in Gampaha
recently.

Kelaniya SLA with 210 points edged out Gampaha
District Swimming and Life Saving Association by nine points with
Viharamaha Devi Balika Vidyalaya securing the third slot with 196
points followed by Regent International College Gampaha with 187
points in fourth place.
Seventeen schools and ten clubs from Gampaha district
participated in this years meet. But Regent International College
who virtually swept the board won the boys championship with 124
points with Basilica College Ragama way behind in second place with
41 points and Gothami Junior School in third.
Viharamaha Devi BV with 196 points emerged champs
in the girl’s category followed by Holy Cross College, Yasodara
Balika BV and Regent International College. Charitha Deshini of
Holy Cross Gampaha was adjudged the best swimmer of the meet and
was awarded a return air ticket to Singapore.
The meet was organized by Regent International
College with the main sponsors being SriLankan Airlines and Seylan
Bank, CCS, Lanka Orix, Makeen Bookshop, Nations Trust Bank, People’s
Bank, Metropolitan Agencies and Ranatunge Motors as co-sponsors.
The chief guest at the meet was formerSri Lankan
swimmer and national cricketer Jehan Mubarak who gave away the awards.
