Stone n’ String : ‘Celebrating Togetherness’
Stone n’ String, the exclusive licence holder
for the 10th South Asian Games, unveiled their souvenir collection
at a colourful fashion show held in the Cinnamon Grand last week.
The theme of the show was ‘Celebrating Togetherness’.
The night of colour and unity began with the unique
drumbeats of Jananath Warakagoda, leading to the official mascot
of the games - the national bird - being brought in. This was followed
by a procession where the flags of the eight participating countries
were carried in by flag bearers with officials from the National
Olympic Committee and Stone n’ String.
The unveiling of the official souvenirs was unique
as for the first time a diverse range of models - from mature models,
to kids, young boys and girls, film stars as well professional models
- saluted the country by walking the ramp.
The catwalk had different collections that were
showcased by the models - 'Desirables', 'Joy of Participation',
'Memories', 'Forget Me Nots,' the 'Glamour Collection' and the 'Forever
Collection.'
The 'Desirables' collection comprised mementos
that the corporates would generally like to have. The 'Joy of Participation'
collection consisted of T-Shirts, caps and handbags that the public
can wear during the South Asian Games.
The younger models walked the ramp showcasing
the 'Memories' and 'Forget Me Nots' collections. This comprised
coasters, wall clocks and mouse pads among other memorabilia.
The highlight of the event was the unveiling of
the 'Glamour collection'. This collection consisted of jewellery
from Stone N String, which was modelled by some of the best names
in the local film industry.
The 'Forever Collection', which was showcased
at the event, consisted of Silver Medallions. Each had the emblem
of one of the eight participating countries' flags on one side.
The central colours for the South Asian Games
- blue, red, green, yellow and orange where used for all aspects
of the event - from the décor, the invitations, the back
drop to the model's attire.
Coordinated by Emphasis, the launch of the official
souvenirs created the much-anticipated hype for the South Asian
Games.
The South Asian Games is being held in Colombo,
August 18 to 28.

Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives and Afghanistan.
