Serene Garden : Paradise in the hills

Though Serene Garden Hotel is just a couple of
years old, it has managed to gain the confidence of top travel agents
as a ‘small luxury’ hotel.
Serene Garden Hotel is situated close to the famous
Dunumadalawa Jungle on Rajapihilla Mawatha ( Upper Lake Road) overlooking
the historic Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth Relic.
The Hotel is all geared up to host the inflow
of tourists for the Perehera season.
'We are full till the end of this week and not
only overseas guests but Sri Lankans from Colombo are here to see
the Perehera' said Vajira Borelessa, the Manager of the Hotel.
‘Special menus with Sri Lankan cusine and
also special rates including Perehera and Kandy city tour with other
interesting places have been lined up for the Perehera season' he
added.
Serene Garden Hotel popular for the quiet, cool
surroundings, offers the ideal setting for total relaxation.
Facing the hotel is Dunumadalawa reserve, a virtual
canopy of green and around it are mist shrouded hills wafting cool
breezes. To the active tourist, Serene Garden Hotel is the ideal
base to visit the many historical sites such as centuries old Buddhist
temples, the elephant orphanage, Vicotris, Randenigala, Mahiyangana
and of course the popular Knuckles Range.

Designed to cater exclusively to the holiday maker,
the hotel has 12 comfortably furnished rooms with A/C, fan hot and
cold water, piped music, telephone and attached bath. All rooms
additionally offer mini-bar television facilities. The hotel also
has Jacuzzi and a swimming pool.
Though the hotel is just a few years old, it has
a up market regular clientele from Colombo and overseas.
'We get most of the Embassy staff from Colombo
and the short term guests from various travel agents. The upper
floor rooms are more popular as it has a unique and fantastic view'
said Manager Boralessa.
'We have a well stocked bar with a variety of
beers, spirits and wines, and our food ranges from West coast to
East.
The hotel takes pride in the gourmet food, prepared
by the hotel's experienced chefs and well loved by the guests who
come from all over the world.
The hotel’s chief chef is one of the driving
forces of the hotel.
Front office executive Dilini, who handles the
PR work for the hotel and sales, is another plus sector for the
company.
‘To make every moment of the guests stay
more enjoyable and memorable the hotel's friendly and very helpful
staff are always there to provide you with the kind of hospitability
that the people of Kandy are famous for' said Boralessa.
Serene Garden Hotel is owned by D. M. Sriyananda,
a businessman from Nuwara Eliya, who is keen on promoting tourism
in Kandy. His latest hotel project, also in the vicinity of Serene
Garden, is now under way.
'This is a much begger project than Serene Gardens.
Yet to be named this hotel has 40 rooms and will be focusing on
the top end of the market' he added.
