Galle RFC stun Army

By Harry Jayachandra

The hosts became hometown heroes in the second round of the Singer Professional Rugby Sevens Ratgama. Galle RFC pulled off arguably the upset of the day when they held ‘A’ Division’s Army to a 19 all draw. Galle then went onto thrash Old Vidyaloka by 67 points to nil. With teams from all over the island participating, Galle’s success would have been just the tonic the organizers and spectators needed with the withdrawal of Havelocks and CH and FC

First round winners Kandy SC booked their place in the Cup quarter finals. They made their intentions clear in the very first game when they thumped Kelani Valley by 61 points to 7. CR and FC and Air Force joined the champs in the Cup Competition.

Army A has been eliminated by Galle RFC.
