Cell phone rings after seven months
A cellular phone of a Swiss national, reported
stolen while he was hospitalised in Ward 27 of the Kandy General
Hospital, was recovered from the possession of a person at Deiyanewela.
The Swiss national had left the country but a
friend of his was watching over his interests.
The phone was reported stolen seven months ago.
The Kandy Police Crimes Division, who had not given up on the case
had recovered it.
Prasanna Perera of Deiyanewela was taken into
custody and and was produced before Kandy Chief Magistrate Harsha
Setunge who remanded him till September 11.
The detection was carried out under the supervision
of Chief Inspector Nilupa Dehigama, while the investigations were
carried out by Sergeant Tennakoon.
