The Congress Secretary General K.H.J. Wijedasa
at the conclusion proceedings said that Presdient Mahinda Rajapaksa
gave a grant of Rs. 20 million for conducting the Conference.
This he said enabled the organisers, the Diyawadana
Nilame and the Mahanayakes of the Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters
to make this event a success.
A total of 154 delegates -- 52 from Sri Lanka
and 102 from 22 other countries participated at this Conference.
Three general solutions were in the draft report
accepted by the participants. They were for the maintenance of the
unity of Buddhist all over the World, means of raising funds for
the education of Buddhist monks, for implementation of Buddhist
social service programmes and financial support to be given to families
who offer their children for ordination by the Sangha.
