Orit opens new wing
Orit Apparels Lanka (Pvt) Ltd recently opened its
new wing at an investment of US$5.5 million under the patronage
of Investment Promotion Minister Rohitha Bogollagama.

The company set up in 1997 in Embilipitiya with
250 workers together with its sister company, Laggala Apparel (Pvt)
Ltd., has now extended its horizon to include Marawila. Orit manufactures
high quality stretch jeans for the US market and is ranked as being
the No. 1 supplier of denim jeans. The company has generated 3500
employment opportunities so far. The export volume is valued at
US$ 40 million per annum and targeting US$50 million in 2007.
The company said its business partner Gloria Vanderbilt
is the second largest brand name in the US market for stretch jeans.
The high quality jeans are exclusively supplied to the US market
under the Gloria Vanderbilt brand name. Orit has been ranked among
the top 10 apparel exporters in Sri Lanka.

The Board of Directors consists of Dr. Henri Naegeli,
Channa Palansuriya, CEO/Managing Director and Arunashantha Herath,
Finance Director. The Seethawaka Plant is a Centralised Facilities
Unit formed in 2001 drawing personnel and equipment from both Orit
Apparels Naula and Embilipitiya with a view to servicing both manufacturing
plants and other outside factories.
