Huawei’s first foray into the Lankan telecom
market
Huawei Technologies
has entered the Sri Lankan telecommunication landscape with local
partners, Access International (Pvt) Ltd.
China-based Huawei Technologies is a global leader
in the provision of next generation telecommunication networks and
is the world’s 7th largest equipment supplier.
Access International (PVT) LTD in partnership
with Huawei recently launched two 3G handsets, U636 and U526 (also
compatible with 2G, network) in Sri Lanka to coincide with the issuing
of 3G commercial licenses by the regulator.
One of the interesting aspects here is the launch
of 3 models of Data Cards, which are E600, E612 and E620 to be used
with notebook computers, Huawei said in a statement.
Huawei specialises in the research and development,
production and marketing of communications equipment, providing
customized network solutions for telecom carriers in optical, fixed,
mobile and data communications networks. The company serves 28 of
the world's top 50 operators, as well as over one billion users
worldwide. Their contract sales in 2005 reached USD 8.2 billion,
of which 58% came from international markets.
