In this exclusive list, Ceylon Tea Trails rubs
shoulders with the world’s best hotels and resorts such as
the Ritz in London, Banyan Tree China, The Peninsula Hong Kong and
the Lalu in Taiwan, the resort said in a statement.
“This accolade follows on the heels of Tea
Trails being included in the Hot List of New Hotels in the world
by most prestigious travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveller. The Hot
List has now become the definitive guide for new luxury hotels reaching
3 million of the world’s most affluent and well travelled
readers of Conde Nast,” the statement said.
Dominique Nordmann, CEO of Forbes & Walker
Leisure, the managing company of Ceylon Tea Trails, said that no
other hotel management company in the region can boast of achieving
this level of recognition with its first property under management
and within one year of opening.
“Fundamentally the resort is a brilliant
and unique concept; a creation of Dilmah Tea and Thilan Wijesinghe,
Group CEO/Managing Director of Forbes & Walker Ltd. There is
no other resort in the world similar to Tea Trails where four bungalows
comprising 20 rooms are connected by carefully selected walking
trails through tea plantations. Of course, the support of our partners,
Bogawantalawa Tea estates, was invaluable in obtaining the bungalows,”
he said.
Nordmann noted that translating a brilliant concept
into providing an unparalleled service would not have been possible
without the resort’s highly professional staff. The glowing
remarks contained in the Guest Books at the four bungalows is a
tribute to the management team comprising Manager, Asela Wevita,
Resident Manager, Chanaka Hewapathirana, Activities Manager, Jeremy
Rajiah, Chef Wajira Gamage and Planter-in-residence, Andrew Taylor.
