SSC pays
tribute to Mahela and Sanga

Sinhalese Sports Club paid their tribute to young
Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara for their
epic 634 run 3rd wicket stand against South Africa on Thursday.
Besides that Jayawardena also became the fourth highest scorer in
the history Test cricket by scoring 374 in the same innings
The
President of SSC Daya Perera P.C unveiled a photograph of Mahela
Jayawardena, in the Gallery of all time greats. There were quite
a number of golden oldies to mark the occasion. C.J.E. Anthoniez
and Dudley Gunesekara - two senior vice-presidents, Cambridge Blue
Ian Pieris, Neil Chanugam, Anura Tennekoon, Sidat Weetimuni , Marvan
Attapattu, Michael De Zoysa, Mahinda Halangoda, Priya Paranawitarana,
Mohan de Silva and Jagath Pattiarachchi.Speaking at the occasion
Jayawardena said it was a real honour for him and Kumar Sangakkara
He said “I am only the stop-gap captain. Continuing the good
work of my skipper Marvan Atapattu still I am happy to play under
him. We have done well at the moment and all have contributed as
a team. We are confident that we could forge ahead and do proud
for Sri Lanka cricket”.
