Double book launch
Two novels relating to the same story in Sinhala
and English, are to be launched simulataneously, probably for the
first time in Sri Lanka.
'Chandraratnage Bhavantara Charikava' and 'Moonstone'
written by Daya Dissanayake, will be launched on September 8, (Friday)
at 5.00 p.m. at the National Sports Academy, Independence Lane,
Colombo 7, with Prof. D.C.R.A. Goonetileke as Chief Guest.
Prof. Sunanda Mahendra and Dr. Lakshmi de Silva
will speak about the books
Daya Dissanayake won the State Literary Award for the Best English
Novel 1998 (Katbitha), published the First e-novel from Asia (The
Saadhu Testament), and the First Sinhala e-novel (Vessan Novu Vedun).
The Department of Cultural Affairs has selected Daya's 'Eavesdropper'
for publishing from the entries submitted for the Manuscript Competition
2006. 'Eavesdropper' will be launched in Anuradhapura on September
18th.
'Moonstone' has an approach that emphasizes action
over style with a plot that has enough twists and turns to give
the reader a mental whipping. Here is a book with the sharpness
of an ice axe, to quote Kafka, capable of breaking the sea frozen
within us.
