Report
on CEB general manager’s allowances ready
The report by a one-man commission
appointed to investigate allegations that the CEB general
manager received huge allowances will be handed over
to the CEB Board next week.
The inquiry was conducted by a former
Labour Commissioner S. Wimalasena who recorded statements
from all officials, excluding one from the man at the
centre of the controversy, General Manager Ranjith Fonseka.
The Sunday Times learns that Mr. Wimalasena
had requested several times for an appointment with
Mr. Fonseka but the general manager had not granted
one.
The Power and Energy Ministry appointed the one-man
commission following allegations by CEB Unions that
the general manager was receiving huge amounts as allowances.
Although declining to comment on his
reported refusal to give an appointment to Mr. Wimalasena,
Mr. Fonseka said that the accusations against him had
cropped up during the tenure of the previous minister
and that he had been cleared of them.
