Clifford Cup champs CR and FC to tour Bangkok

Finest thing has happened for the CR and FC rugby. They have broken a 17-year-old drought. CR skipper Pavithra Fernando’s lads won the Clifford Cup final over arch-rivals Havelocks SC. The last time CR won the Clifford Cup was in 1988.

They were distinctly unlucky to lose the league to defending champions Kandy SC, runners-up. Won the uinder-21 and 24 titles and the Clifford Cup.

To honour their exploits this season the CR and FC players will tour Bangkok on October 5 sponsored by Lafarge Mahaweli Cement. On the sane evening under lights CR will play a strong outfit Southerners Sports Club. Fernando will manage the team. It will be a six-day tour with only one game. - BW
