Josephians record second successive win

St Joseph’s crushed De Mazenod Kandana by ten wickets in their Under 20 inter-school cricket match concluded at Kandana yesterday to record their second successive win for the season.

The Josephians taking first lease of the wicket helped by a fine knock of 102 from Anton Livera scored 238 and the Mazenodians in their turn ended the first day’s play on 108 for 5. Resuming their innings yesterday they were unable to make any headway as brothers Rajeew and Shameera Weerasinghe ripped through their batting to bowl them out for 137 with the duo sharing eight wickets between them.

Made to follow on the two brothers tormented the Mazenodians batting again with the younger brother and right arm leg spinner Shameera doing the major damage taking 5 for 29 supported by elder brother Rajeew with figures of 3 for 35 combining together to bundled the home side for 102. leaving the Joes just two runs for victory.

Livera cracks 102

DSS dominated their drawn Under 20 inter-school cricket encounter against S. Thomas’ played at Mt Lavinia played at Wijerama Mawatha.
