‘Guru
Tharuwa’at Elphinstone

Arrangements have been made to stage
a special show of the drama ‘ Guru Tharuwa’
on the completion of its 10th year on the September
27 at 3.30 and 6.45 pm at Elphinstone Theatre Hall,
Colombo 10 which was written and produced by Jayalath
Manoratne and originally staged in 1996.
The theme of the drama‘Guru
Tharuwa’ is the tragedy of harmful effects caused
to the Sri Lankan society due to the expelling Aesthetic
Literature Subject and literature teacher from the class
room, has been staged throughout the last ten years
in almost all the major cities.
In this drama, which added a new experience
to the drama clan amidst the better response of critics
and audience, Rathna Lalani with Manoratne, Suminda
Sirisena, Lal Kularathne, Prasanjith Abesuriya, Jagath
Benaragama, Somapala Pathirage, Sampath Thennekoon,
Dayadewa Edirisinghe, Sarath Chandrasiri, Priyantha
Seneviratne, Sashika and number of other artistes are
playing roles.
Music creation is by Ranjith Balasuriya.

Perera is in-charge of stage costume creation and stage
lighting by Lionel Bantarage.
In this drama ‘ Guru Tharuwa’
which in considered as a Semi Documentary play Jude
Srimal functions as the Chief Organizer.
