ICICI wants more branches

The ICICI Bank is awaiting approval from India to open more branches in Sri Lanka and is gearing to strike partnerships with local firms and banks.

“Once approved from India, we will open more branches in Sri Lanka,” Bhargav Dasgupta, Senior General Manager and Head International Banking Group at ICICI said. He also said that ICICI will cement many new initiatives and partnerships with retailers and other bankers. “We plan to launch retail banking by December,” he added.

Dasgupta said that ICICI has achieved profits during the last seven months. “We are on target and positive about Sri Lanka,” he said.

Naveen Agarwal, Country Manager ICICI said that based on the experience of tie ups in India and other geographies, they are in touch with various parties for partnerships. “ICICI Bank has always worked in partnership with other banks in all geographies and identified areas of mutual cooperation based on the opportunities available. In Sri Lanka also we are working on the same basis,” he said.
