Court fines
illegal petrol dealers

The Kandy Chief Magistrate fined M.
Ariyadasa and N.M. Puniywathi, both from Ampitiya, Rs.
2,500 each for selling petrol without a proper license.
Magistrate Harsha Setunge also imposed
a fine of Rs. 6,000 on Kumara Velu Krishan of Kandy
for being in possession of 250 milligrams of Ganja and
M.G.C. Tennakoon a fine of Rs. 1,500 for possessing
2,000 milligrams of Ganja.
While imposing another fine of Rs.
6,000 on P.G. Jayatilleke for possessing 2,800 milligrams
of the illicit dope, the Chief Magistrate fined P.C.
Somasiri Rs. 2,000 for being in possession of two phonographic
VCDs.
H.M. Liyange Cyril was too fined Rs.
9,000 for possessing 18 milligrams of heroin.
All accused pleaded guilty to the
charges levelled against them by the Kandy Vice Squad
headed by Sub Inspector A.B. Medawela and prosecuted
by Police Constable Janaka Pathmala.
