La Petite
Fleur keeps growing
Well known Montessori, La Petite Fleur
Montessori House of Children in Pirivena Road, Ratmalana
will extend its educational services to the primary
level in January 2007.
The new primary school of La Petite
Fleur, LPF Academy, will be opened at 244 A, Quarry
Road, Dehiwela, with Grades 1, 2 and 3 in January 2007,
Grades 4 and 5 in 2008, adding on a grade each year
until the Ordinary Level.
As in the Montessori school, the LPF
Academy aims to create a culture in which the child
develops a passion for learning that will extend throughout
and beyond school, encouraging self-reliance, cooperation,
enthusiasm and initiative.
La Petite Fleur firmly believes that
the child learns best in a structured environment in
which the child feels happy and secure. The LPF Academy
thus offers a wide range of activities designed to meet
the demands of the national curriculum through cross-curricular
and holistic education, eventually preparing child for
the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) examination in Sri Lanka
in English medium and / or G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) -
Edexcel and Cambridge examinations, as private candidates.
Among the infrastructure facilities
provided, spacious classrooms equipped with uniquely
designed furniture to stimulate the child's learning
environment, a well equipped library and the recreational
room, take a special place.
In operation for almost 14 years,
La Petite Fleur has its own scholarship programmes,
enrichment programmes for children and parents, community
outreach and cultural events. Helping the children of
the Deaf and Blind School in Ratmalana and a primary
school in Diyatalawa, providing school supplies for
two Montessori schools in Kithulgala and Negombo, setting
up a Montessori environment in the Mother Teresa Home
in Moratuwa and building a Montessori and community
centre in Lunugamwehera, a remote village off Hambantota,
are a few programmes initiated by the parents, children
and staff of La Petite Fleur.
