Seeking
peace!
By Usama Ibrahim, Malabe
Oh Lanka here I come
Little would you know
Who I am
As your sons and daughters
Weigh me down
The seeds of mistrust are
Sown in my name
All religions and castes adore me
You keep drifting away from me
The bounties you could reap of me
are greater than the mountains you see
People of the north and south
lay claim to the horizons of each other
In pursuit of power and vanity
Had they, but turned with wisdom would they know
how far they are from their own horizons
Oh Lanka be steadfast in unity
As only calmer seas will harvest
Richest of pearls.
