The 41st Family Brigade will march on

Lt. Gen. Parami Kulathunga

By Nangi (Priyamali)

Parami - beloved son, brother, friend and soldier

A brave son of Mother Lanka, admired, loved and respected.

Race and religion – it never mattered

Advocated “Meththa and Karuna” to all, no matter

Majestic in command, yet so gentle in his demands

In your journey of “Sansara” – may you attain Nibbana!

Lt. Gen. Parami Kulathunga

It has been 90 days of pain, anguish and despair since your brutal assassination. You were the Commander-in-Chief of the “42nd Family Brigade” – which has been reduced to 41 grieving members.

You gave us strength and courage to face any obstacle that we came across and to always be positive. Together we won many a battle.Your love for mankind was unconditional. You gave, so selflessly. You were a true Buddhist. The good times, fun and games we shared with you are memorable but they are a painful reminder that nothing is “permanent” in this life.

You were a tower of strength to the “Senior Citizens Platoon” in the family. The way you did your duty by the elders was most admirable. The “family cubs” will surely miss your love, affection and mostly those “bear hugs”! You always said that it is easier to discipline an Army but not this stubborn and restless “Family Brigade”!

On June 26, this year, a cowardly act initiated by a megalomaniac put an end to the life of an “Officer and Gentleman Par Excellence”.

The whole country still weeps silently at the loss of a gallant army officer who paid the ultimate price for doing his duty to protect the sovereignty of his motherland.

Dearest Parami Aiya, we salute you and honour you with great pride and gratitude. Our priority will be to complete the unfinished projects initiated by you, to serve humanity.

The 41st Family Brigade will march on.
