Dr. Uditha Liyanage and Dr. Harsha
Cabral have been appointed as non-executive, independent
directors of Diesel & Motor Engineering Company,
a member of the Hayleys Group, with effect from October
1, 2006.
Dr. Liyanage counts over 15 years experience
in industry, having held senior marketing management
positions in three leading companies. He thereafter
joined the academia and read for the doctoral program
at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, (PIM) where
he has been, Senior Faculty, Marketing over the past
13 years, and now, the Institute's Head, Academic Affairs
as well. He is a Marketing Consultant to a number of
leading local companies and international agencies,
and a developer of senior managers, and on the boards
of directors of a number of

leading companies. Dr. Harsha Cabral
is an Attorney-at-law, with a PhD in Corporate Law from
the University of Canberra in Australia, and specializes
in Intellectual Property Law, Company Law, Commercial
Law and Commercial Arbitration. He is also a Lecturer
and Examiner in Business Law at the University of Colombo
for the LLB programme, a Lecturer and Examiner in Intellectual
Property Law at the Sri Lanka Law College for the Post
Attorneys and Pre-Attorneys, a Lecturer and Examiner
in International Trade Law and a Member of the Faculty
Board, University of Wales, UK for the LLM programme,
and a Lecturer & Examiner in Commercial Arbitration
at the Institute for Commercial Law & Practice (ICLP).
He is currently a Commissioner of the
Law Commission of Sri Lanka, Member of the Advisory
Commission on Company Law in Sri Lanka, and a Member
of the National Council for Economic Development (NCED)
– Legal Cluster. |
